"Instead of worrying and agonizing, move ahead constructively."
It's been a busy spring and summer promises to be even busier. I'm taking a break from blogging. The above not-a-fortune (more of a direction, really, and one I should heed) is the last one I received.
Before I go, here are some of my friends' recent cookie inserts.
@UffishL, whose birthday is today - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LAUREN! - got a kick out of this oddly worded not-a-fortune:
"Today, you are wiser than usual, and also less anxious."
@blakekrause, brother of my good friend Single Blonde, wonders if his recent insert - "You find the beauty in ordinary things. Do not lose this ability." - is a fortune or an indication of a fortunate trait.
My dear friend Erin, who just returned from two trips, received this insert, which she deemed "a not-a-fortune AND bullshit":
"Keep in mind that it's the journey and not the destination that counts."
Pam's fortune made her "laugh maniacally when [she] read it": "You deserve respect and will eventually get it." (don't we all?)
However, when her "sweetie got another lecture fortune" - "A friend or partner will be giving you needed information. Listen!" - we see how the respect may require patience...
My Audriella married her Mr. Jones last month and they are currently enjoying a Hawaiian honeymoon. Always on the lookout for fortune cookies due to too many meals with yours truly, she sent me this photo:
I'll leave you with two cookie inserts my close friend Colleen received recently, with apologies for the blurry text pic:
"Love is like wildflowers...it is often found in the most unlikely places."
"Smiling often can make you look and feel younger."
Thank you for visiting this blog, whether you do it regularly or occasionally. I wish for you productivity, wisdom, and the ability to find beauty in ordinary things. Remember to enjoy the journey. May you get the respect you deserve; may your fortune cookies be dipped in chocolate (if you like that sort of thing, and aren't allergic to it). Pick love where you find it. Smile.
