Virtual Fortune Cookies

I have great readers. Loyal readers. Readers who share their fortunes and not-a-fortunes with me. Readers who email, text, and Facebook me with anything and everything fortune cookie-related.

[Speaking of Facebook, if you haven't already become a fan of Not-A-Fortune, you can do so here.]

LT sent me this link to a fortune cookie widget. If you click on the link and then click on the cookie, it should open to reveal an insert that includes a fortune OR a not-a-fortune. Try it and tell me what you receive.

My friend and colleague Robin alerted me to this site where you can send a virtual fortune cookie. While you can select the theme of the cookie insert for your intended recipient - career/money, success/luck, love, life, friendship/family, random (in the true spirit of fortune cookies!) - you cannot specify the (not-a-)fortune. Follow these links to see the two not-a-fortunes I received: First and Second.

While searching for "evite," my friend and former colleague Greg found this iPhone/iPod Touch app:

Here is an example of what this free app offers:

I'll end this post with a song, also shared with me by Robin. "Fortune Cookie" by Los Straitjackets is available for free download - you can also hear a clip of it by clicking the link. I spent some time trying to embed the song into this post, to no avail. Forgive me, dear readers, for my lack of tech skills. I hope you have enjoyed this post anyway.

Don't forget to vote in the poll (located in the sidebar to the right)!

  1. I opened the widget- and my not-a-fortune said "You are a person of great culture....in bed." I don't know that playing Cowboy/Cowgirl really counts as "culture".

  2. My virtual fortune? "This year, think quality not quantity"... I was kind of "meh" about it until I added "in bed" to it... then it's hilarious! Thank you virtual cookie for telling me not to be a whore!

  3. Widget says, "You simplify your life in many ways and find great rewards."

  4. "At an auction, keep your mouth shut" Sounds like something Cesar would tell me.
