Fortune Cookie Round-Up

It's been quite sometime since I've written a post chronicling all of the fortunes and not-a-fortunes my friends, family, and I have received. In fact, looking back over my previous posts, the last one was January 15th. Trust me, there have been some good cookie inserts over the past 45 days or so!

Fortunes:
"You will become an accomplished writer."
"You will earn a great sum of money."
{The day after my friend and her husband received these two fortunes they received a letter from the IRS informing them that they overpaid on last year's taxes and will be receiving a refund check. I'm eating with them!}

"You are going to have a really comfortable retirement."

"Your kindness is surely to be repaid"
{I received this one & initially deemed it a not-a-fortune. My friend Nick set me straight.}

"A single kind word will keep one warm for years."

"A pleasant experience is ahead; don't let it pass by."

"Good ideas will spring forth naturally from your mind."

"Your sparkle will never fade."
{My friend Victoria's five year old daughter received this one. Her father is saving it to read to her on her wedding day, "since that is how he thinks of her."}

Not-a-Fortunes:

"Your mind is filled with new ideas. Explore them."

"Be assertive when decisive action is needed."
{My Marine buddy received this one; I think he's got the decisive action and assertiveness under control.}

"Emotions can be sweet and sour, so can your meal."

Similar to the not-a-fortune above (received by my friend LT), I received this gem: "A good way to keep healthy is to eat more Chinese food."

Upon receiving the following not-a-fortune, Blonde Birdie described it as "the lamest not-a-fortune ever": "Relax and enjoy yourself."

However, I had to respond that my colleague Jonesy had her beat:

  1. Oh my goodness, those last 4 are greatness. Someone is having a good time writing these "fortunes."

  2. Thanks for the shout out! While I don't WANT to receive any more ridiculous not-a-fortunes any time soon, I'll be sure to pass them on to you when I do. :)
