Fortune Cookie Round-Up: Some Real Gems

This round-up includes some real gems. For instance, my parents received these cookie inserts ten days ago:

"You will have good luck and overcome many hardships." (Dad's fortune)
"Advice is like kissing. It costs nothing and is a pleasant thing to do." (Mom's not-a-fortune, which I think says something about the fortune cookie industry at large.)

Another actual fortune my father received:
"A solid challenge will bring forth your finest abilities."

After the same meal, I received "Be yourself and you will always be in fashion," which is comforting and encouraging.

Blonde Birdie's not-a-fortune offers an opportunity to reflect on the value of youth:
"We must always have old memories and young hopes."

And finally, CAChick05 and I met for a nightcap at P.F. Chang's Friday, where we both received fortunes.
Hers: "There will be many surprises: unexpected gains are likely."
Mine: "Happier days are definitely ahead for you." (Again, comforting and encouraging.)
